ZIFA Eastern Region side Masvingo United on Saturday stretched their unbeaten run to nine games after defeating lowly placed Chivhu Stars FC 2-1.
Yuna Yuna are now third on the table and are tied with leaders Buffaloes Juniors and second placed Eastern Stars who are on 27 points but with a superior goal difference.
With 13 games played so far, the former Premier League side seems to be on course for a serious fight for the ticket to the elite division.

Masvingo United head coach Joel Nhumwa said he is happy with the performance of his charges reiterating that gaining promotion is every team’s dream and is ready for the challenge.

“The team is playing very well judging from the maximum points in the last eight games we have played. We want promotion just like any other team and we will fight up to the end,” said Nhumwa.

Fans in Masvingo are increasingly becoming confident of a return to the Premiership and crowds have been swelling with each match.
Table leaders Buffaloes Juniors collected maximum points at home when they edged Ruwa United 1-0 win.

Second placed Eastern Stars were denied three points at home when they drew with Mutare City FC 1-1.
Another Mutare based side Mutare Poly FC collected a point away at Tennax City in a match which ended 1-1.

ZRP Masvingo tasted a rare win after a chain of defeats when they defeated Triangle FC feeder team Mwenezana 3-2 at Mucheke Stadium.
Surrey FC continued to drop points when they lost 2-0 to FC Three Leaves at home.

Gutu FC were held to a goalless draw by struggling Black Eagles FC who are second from the base of the table.
Anusa Mwachumwa’s coached side Renco Mine suffered yet another blow when they were narrowly defeated by Gaza Gunners FC 1-0.
