THE Milton High School boy who fought with a teacher two weeks ago has dropped out of school, his classmates confirmed yesterday.
His close friend who declined to be named said Malvern Nyangani last attended school the day after the incident. It was not immediately clear if the pupil had been expelled or had transferred to another school, but the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education is yet to make a determination following a probe that was launched following the school fight.

“He came the day after the incident but he left without talking to us. I am not  sure whether he was expelled or not. He is no longer coming to school,” said the friend.

Malvern beat his teacher Lawrence Ndebele after he had had a dispute with the school head boy over gloves that were not part of the school attire.

Last week education authorities said they were investigating the incident.

Acting Bulawayo Provincial education director Richard Swene yesterday said they were still seized with the matter, but could not give further details.

There were indications that the teacher was to be charged and Malvern expelled from school as Swene said appropriate action was going to be taken in line with standing regulations.

Malvern allegedly left Ndebele, a mathematics teacher, with a bleeding nose after he fought back as the teacher caned him using a hose pipe.  The two were cautioned and discharged by the police.
