WHEN Zimbabwe’s representative to Miss Heritage International 2014, Zinhle Kim Dube, left the country for Nepal two months ago, she promised to do well at the pageant and she did.

Last weekend, Dube was crowned Miss Heritage International Africa and Miss Heritage Culture at the Miss Heritage International 2014 pageant held in the capital of Nepal, Kathmandu. Myanmar’s Hla yin Kyae was crowned Miss Heritage International 2014.

Speaking on her trip to Nepal, the South Africa-based model said she made new friends during boot camp.

“It was an amazing experience. Nepal is a beautiful cultural country with hospitable people and rich food. I enjoyed every moment interlinking with models from different nations, sharing basically everything with them,” Dube said.

The beauty, who is known to some as the Naomi Campbell of Zimbabwe, said competition at the pageant was stiff but her determination kept her going.“I must admit, competition was quite stiff. The girls were competitive, but I never backed down or felt intimidated.

“Commitment and determination kept me going as I always told myself I was there for a reason and that I wouldn’t come back home empty handed,” she said.

Dube said she was shocked when she was named Miss Heritage International Africa and Miss Heritage Culture.

“I couldn’t believe I had won. I had to ask Miss Thailand to assure me as I just couldn’t believe it,” she said.

Dube added that the two titles were dedicated to Zimbabwe because of the country’s rich cultural background.

“Winning these two titles means a lot to me and above all, it means a lot to Zimbabwe as a whole because we never get such platforms where we get to express our culture.”

Dube, who is in South Africa, said she would be in Bulawayo next week to celebrate her achievements, especially considering that a farewell party was held in the city when she left.
