Mpopoma Pirates wallop LSU

MPOPOMA Pirates cruised to a 4-0 victory over LSU in a one sided Zifa Bulawayo Province Division Two league encounter played at Raylton on Saturday.

Mpopoma Pirates went into the game smarting from a 2-1 defeat against CIWU.

The big victory over LSU comes as a confidence booster as the side eyes a top two finish.

Mpopoma Pirates got their goals from Wilfred Maguraumwe, Abel Ndlovu, Tinashe Magaya and Jerry Mlinde. They now sit on position four with 43 points from 24 games and are 10 points adrift of leaders Toronto.

LSU sank deeper into the relegation waters with the loss. They have collected five points from 22 games.  Survival chances are becoming slimmer with each round of fixtures. With 21 points left to play for, they are 15 points away from safety.

Mpopoma Pirates coach Nkosinathi Nkomo heaped praises on his charges for a polished performance.

“We are very happy with the result. We played very well today, l think it was a perfect outing for the guys.

“These are three very crucial points as we aim to end the season on a respectable position,” said Nkomo.

Meanwhile, Toronto maintained their two point lead at the summit of the table with a 2-0 win over relegation threatened Khami United. Phindani Ngwenya and Brian Kamusoko were on target for the table toppers. CIWU who are keeping close tabs on the leaders edged a stubborn Sabona Mzilikazi side1-0.
