Mutasa District implements Food Deficit Mitigation Strategy Programme to tackle food insecurity

VILLAGERS in Manicaland’s Mutasa District have received free maize grain under the Food Deficit Mitigation Strategy Programme, which aims to address the pressing issue of food insecurity.

In a statement, the Ministry of Information Publicity and Broadcasting Services said with the help of Child Care Workers, families with the most food insecurity are given priority.

 

 “Village Chiefs, headman, and Child Care Workers are responsible for identifying and ranking beneficiaries, giving priority to the most food insecure. So far 11 out of 31 Wards in Mutasa have benefited under this programme and 149.74mt of maize has been distributed,” reads the statement.
