AXED Warriors assistant coach Nation Dube says he is struggling to come to terms with damaging allegations being levelled against him that he is part of a cartel run by an unnamed Italian planning to fix the Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Swaziland.

According to reports, the alleged match-fixing syndicate had also penetrated the South African Premiership, with Zifa executive committee member Edzai Kasinauyo being the first high ranking official to be publicly named and subsequently suspended from the board.

Others include former Zifa chief executive officer Henrietta Rushwaya, ex-Dynamos players Partson Jaure and George Chigova, and two unnamed serving Zifa employees.

However, Dube, the Hwange FC head coach, said shock and disbelief was not enough to describe how he felt when news got to him that he was being branded a match-fixer.

“Perhaps people will say it’s obvious that I will deny the allegations, but that will not stop me still from denying whatever is being said about me. I still can’t believe that someone can come up with such life damaging allegations about me. I have always been a clean player in all my life and whatever I have, materially or otherwise was and is purely from my sweat; nothing was ill gained,” said Dube.

“Right now I want the nation and the whole world to believe me. I cannot sell my soul and naturally my country for any amount of money. I just can’t.”

He said he was willing to give investigators all his mobile phones and numbers so they can go through call details and messages and extract all the information they deem key to their investigations.

“I have four mobile phones, one with a Telecel line, two Econet lines and one NetOne line. Those conducting these investigations are free to take them and go through my records. I don’t care whether they see my private chats or messages as long as I will be cleared of this.

“I’m hurting to be honest. I can’t wait to hear the recorded phone calls and read the emails, which the authorities are saying they are in possession of,” Dube said.
