New twist to BancABC saga

This follows the abandonment of a replay, which had apparently been ordered by Zifa, last Wednesday at the National Sports Stadium.

DeMbare players refused to take part in the replay, arguing that they were being given a raw deal and insinuating that the Zifa board might have erred in nullifying a ruling by a PSL committee tasked with resolving the abandoned tie at Barbourfields.

Questions have also emerged as to why the organisers of last Wednesday’s ill-fated match decided to open the gates for Highlanders and the match officials while, at the same time, locking the fans outside the National Sports Stadium.

If the organisers’ decision to lock the fans out of the ground was testimony to their understanding that DeMbare would not come and fulfil the match, then why did they allow the match officials and Bosso onto the field of play?

Amid all this confusion, Zifa have since written another letter, which bears the same date as the day of that ill-fated match last Wednesday, directing the PSL leadership to resolve the issue within the provisions of the rules and regulations governing the tournament.

The latest correspondence appears to be a shift, from the initial stance taken by the Zifa board, in ordering a replay, which turned into a non-event at the National Sports Stadium last Wednesday.
