President Mnangagwa to officially open the 56th Session of UN Economic Commission for Africa Conference on Finance Ministers with focus on inclusive Green Economies Delegates at the 56th Session of the Uneca in Victoria Falls

ALL is set for the official opening of the 56th Session of the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (Uneca) Conference of Finance Ministers by President Mnangagwa here this morning.

The Uneca Conference of African Ministers of Finance, Planning and Economic Development started on Wednesday and ends tomorrow Tuesday.

It is being held under the theme: “Financing the Transition to Inclusive Green Economies in Africa: Imperatives, Opportunities, and Policy Options.”

According to the programme, Finance, Economic Development and Investment Promotion Minister Professor Mthuli Ncube who assumed the chairmanship of Uneca Finance Ministers for 2024, is expected to be joined by his counterparts from the motherland for the official opening.

The first three days of the conference were dedicated to deliberations and planning by the Committee of Experts who were expected to present a report to the Council of Ministers.

Topical in the deliberations so far have been Africa’s rising debt, lack of access to finance, carbon financing, green economy transition, and the need for collaboration by member states to address the impact of climate change.
