PRESIDENT Emmerson Mnangagwa has postponed his tour of Gwayi-Shangani Dam and the Bulawayo-Nkayi Road project in Matabeleland North which was scheduled for today.

People were supposed to gather at Cross Mabale near Gwayi-Shangani Dam site and Ngwingwisi along the Bulawayo-Nkayi Road.

In an interview yesterday, Matabeleland North Zanu-PF provincial chairman Cde Richard Moyo said President Mnangagwa was tied up with other commitments.

The tour will now be held next week on a day to be advised. “We have been advised by the National Political Commissariat office that the President has other commitments and they will advise of another date next week,” said Cde Moyo.

He however, said organisers are busy on the ground preparing for the visit.  “We are busy with preparations as we are mobilising transport to carry people to the two venues. We want to be prepared so that when a new date is announced we are ready,” he said.

This will be the President’s first ever visit to the province on Government business as Head of State, as his administration pushes to complete outstanding projects.

Cde Moyo said they had been asked to identify outstanding projects that need urgent attention and Gwayi-Shangani and the Bulawayo-Nkayi road were some of them.

Last week, Cde Moyo said the visit by President Mnangagwa to Gwayi-Shangani Dam and Bulawayo-Nkayi Road project brings hope to the province. — @ncubeleon.
