WITH the championship, top four and relegation battles done and dusted, it will be the urge to finish as runners up that will be the main motivation in this weekend’s Zifa Southern Region Division One matches where three sides are still in with a chance of finishing second.

Hwange bade farewell to the second tier league three weeks ago when they beat Tsholotsho 1-0 at the Colliery to take their points tally to 69 with two games to go while Iziqholo Zezhwane remained on 55.

A shock 0-1 loss to relegated Toronto and Talen Vision’s 2-1 defeat of Makomo saw Tsholotsho in danger of even missing out on second spot, especially if Hwange lose their last match to neighbours ZPC Hwange tomorrow.

Tsholotsho spent the better part of their campaign in the top two bracket but they then ran out of steam as the race got tougher.

Iziqholo zeZhwane wrap up the season with an away fixture against unpredictable Casmyn. Their solace will be playing in the $5 000 end of season Landa John Nkomo Memorial tournament for top four teams whose winner will pocket $1 300.

The losing finalist gets $600 while half of that will be given to the third and fourth finishers of the tournament.
