SHABANIE Mine have secured the services of their former sons Rowan Nenzou and Brighton Pamhirwa who joined the miners yesterday from Chiredzi United.
Nenzou whose play has been admired by Moses Chunga, left the miners and joined rivals FC Platinum in 2012. He could not find joy at the Platinum miners prompting him to move to the Eastern Region Divison One League.

“Shabanie is my team. They have been struggling and we have come to make sure that they maintain their Premiership status. We were given clearance letters and the best option is coming back to our roots,” said Nenzou.

His counterpart Pamhirwa who at one time was quizzed by police who accused him of keeping the Chiredzi kit as he was close to Chunga, also decided to join the asbestos miners.

The duo has been joined by Wellington Kamudyariwa and central defender Fidelis Mangezi ending Shabanie’s woes of a player maker.

After the departure of William Ngonya to Chapungu, Mangezi will give competition to Smart Muchabayiwa who has been blowing hot and cold this season.

The asbestos miners also managed to secure the services of Gift Saurumba, a student at the National University of Science and Technology who was offloaded by Highlanders, and Terrence Majo from How Mine.

After losing 12 players they managed to replace them with six and John Phiri feels he now has depth in his team.

“I now have a stronger squad and my job is therefore no longer difficult. They will help youngsters to grow especially the likes of Douglas (Sibanda). I am looking forward to a better second half.

“Shabanie will never die. Players, the likes of (Mabhurugwa) Ashley Mukwena come and go and the same is true of coaches but the club will remain. Most of the players who have made names passed through the hostile environment of Maglas,” said Phiri.

He said Shabanie remained a big brand after Dynamos and Highlanders and he was looking forward to doing better in the match against Buffaloes.
