THE countdown to the eagerly-awaited Bulawayo Shutdown event, scheduled for April 27, has commenced, 19 days to the grand occasion. With tickets set to be released on April 15, anticipation is building as the event gains widespread attention throughout the town.

Event organiser, Baron Rice, sees the event as a chance to enhance networking opportunities for both artistes and attendees.

The event, which has been a staple in the entertainment calendar for the past several years, boasts an even bigger line-up of artistes this year. The stellar roster includes renowned names such as Kwesta, Aymos, Murumba Pitch, Djembe Monks, Bazooker, Boy Nino, Enzo Ishall, Killer T, Saintfloew and Winky D.

However, there have been some changes to the artiste line-up. One of the previously announces acts from South Africa, Emtee, will no longer be performing. Rice said:

“We had already paid Emtee, but we discovered that he had already been booked to perform in Kenya on the same day as the Shutdown. Due to conflicting bookings, we decided to replace him with another artiste.”

He said they ideally wanted to replace him with a female artiste from the neighbouring country.

Aymos

“We were considering a female artiste as a replacement, but we found out that Mawhoo and Nkosazana Daughter were also booked elsewhere. But, people must be rest assured that we’ll fill Emtee’s slot with another artiste within a few days.”

Despite this setback, a total of 22 artistes have been booked thus far for the event with Rice teasing a surprise activation.

“I’ve already secured one surprise act to spice up the event. While I won’t reveal the name just yet, I’m confident that fans will love this addition. We aim to provide music enthusiasts with the ultimate night this April at the Bulawayo Shutdown show,” Rice said.
