SHEASHAM head coach Lizwe Sweswe has hailed club sponsors for making sure that he gets all the players he had targeted ahead of the start of 2024 Zifa Central Region Division One League.

Fondly known as the Construction Boys, the Gweru based outfit, is seeking to make an early return to the country’s elite football league after their 2023 maiden dance that saw them being relegated.

“It’s always pleasing to get positive support from your sponsors. We managed to get all the players that we had targeted. It all shows that our sponsors share the same vision with us as coaches. I’m very much grateful to them and we are now done with our player recruitment,” said Sweswe, a former championship winning coach with FC Platinum.

The club now provides home to ex Highlanders duo of Rahman Kutsanzira and pint sized Ray Lunga.

Lunga, who is the son of former Bosso midfielder Gift Lunga (snr), was mid last week satisfied as an international accredited International Accredited Football Scout.

“I’m thrilled to share a milestone achievement. I’m delighted to announce that I’m now an International Accredited Football Scout after attaining certificates in Soccer Management and Scouting with Sports Management Worldwide (SMWWW) United States of America (USA) and talent Identification in Football with Professional Scouts Association (PFSA) UK. As I celebrate another year of life, I’m also celebrating this new accomplishment in my journey,” said Lunga.

His coach Sweswe also shared the same delight.

“This is really good. It’s a big achievement for Ray as an individual and for us as a club. Now it becomes easy to continue working with him because we now know that in the field of play we will also be having a coach in one way or the other. It’s a development that will also help us in decision making. I’m happy for him because he will remain relevant to the game,” said Sweswe.

Former Warriors players that include Agent Sawu and Esrom Nyandoro, are some of the living football legends that have pursued the similar route.
Sheasham also managed to lure former AmaZulu and Tsholotsho FC midfielder Butholezwe Ncube in a development that has seen him reunite with his boyhood coach Sweswe.

The former Premier Soccer League (PSL) side also roped in Ayanda Ncube, Nixon Gama, Brian Rusinga and Kim Joe Sibanda among other experienced players, who previously worked with Sweswe at Bulawayo Chiefs.-@FungaiMuderere
