The Arthur Evans show to debut on Zambezi Magic

Bongani Ndlovu Showbiz Correspondent—
THE Arthur C Evans show is set to make its debut next month on DStv’s Zambezi Magic (channel 160) if all goes well with recording of the first season wrapped up in Bulawayo on Saturday. Hosted by model and MC Arthur Evans, the show has the likes of superstar Oliver Mtukudzi, radio personality Tonderai “TK” Katsande, Ammara Brown, Sandra Ndebele, rapper Cal_Vin, Mbo Mahocs.

From South Africa, television personality Maps Maponyane, Morakile and Maru from Greed and Desire and Isidingo’s Sechaba will also make appearances on the show. Tag-named #YouACEdit, the show has three segments, where Evans in the first one, interviews a guest and gets to ask about their lives and professions.

In the second segment another guest joins them and this is where Evans likes to endorse a person who he thinks deserves the limelight of the show. In the last segment the two guests are asked questions about topical issues in their careers, with one of them performing on the stage at the end.

On Saturday Evans interviewed Oliver Mtukudzi and TK with Cal_Vin on one episode and in the final one Mbo Mahocs and Sechaba. Cal_Vin and Sechaba performed at the end of their respective episodes.

After the long day, Evans said it felt good that recording the season of the show was complete as he almost gave up last month because of a lack of finance. “Last year I took savings of my own and shot the two plots. Zambezi Magic liked it and they said they wanted it as a finished product.

“It’s been a struggle for the past nine months and three weeks before we started shooting; I nearly threw in the towel. But things fell in place and we started shooting the revered producer Trevor “Trey” Ncube,” said Evans.

“It has been a difficult journey especially doing something yourself in such an economic environment that we live in. I appreciate people want to support but the support in terms of what’s actually needed like the financial support has been limited,” said Evans.

He said he was surprised with the amount of talent that was in the country that needed to be exposed outside the country. “We have so much talent and one person I’ve always loved is Audius Mtawarira. We tried to take the best of the artistic capitals of the country and South Africa.

“It’s a Zimbabwean show but we don’t want to restrict it to one locality as we have a regional outlook for the show. We want to endorse and give people who we think have done their nation and trade proud an opportunity to be on the show,” said Evans.

“Zambezi Magic had indicated that they wanted to do a launch party that’s the only time that we shall know when exactly the show will be aired.” Zambezi Magic is an entertainment channel, specifically targeted at DStv Compact subscribers within southern Africa.
