This is the motto at Transverse Industrials and General Supplies, a hardware and safety equipment manufacturing firm in Bulawayo.

The company, which was established by Titshabona Dube, 41, has been in operation for more than 10 years and has become one of the city’s leading hardware manufacturers.

The firm focuses in the distribution and manufacturing of various types of hardware and safety equipment ranging from picks, plumbing, cement, shovels, door frames, locks, helmets, goggles, dust masks, gloves, overalls, work suits, dustcoats, shaft sinking suits, raincoats, safety shoes and uniforms.

The company’s operations manager, Persevearance Mativenga, said the firm employed 15 people.

“We manufacture our products per order. We’ve a dedicated staff compliment of 15 personnel whose commitment and suitability has taken us this far,” she said.

Mativenga said the company made a variety of hardware and safety equipment which they sold at affordable prices.

“We want to ensure hardware and safety equipment manufacturing growth, survival and perpetual succession resulting from proper professional management. It’s our aim to generate reasonable and sufficient profits to make the business a truly self-reliant and self-sustaining entity,” she said.

Mativenga said it was also their goal to compete favourably with small and medium scale safety equipment manufacturing enterprises and promote the country’s entreprenual efforts.

In a bid to offer diversity, the company’s activities include importation of oils, mining machinery, filtration equipment, steel, breathing apparatus, gas analysers, gas detectors, LOCO Batteries and cap lamps as a supplementary measure to the firm’s core business.

She said Transverse wanted to contribute to economic growth.

“The firm’s other objective is contribute positively to the much needed foreign currency earning capacity of the country and thereby enable the economy to sustain planned and envisaged growth.

“We want to operate as a model which will be emulated by the local businessmen, in terms of dispelling unfounded fears that safety equipment manufacturing cannot be done locally,” said Mativenga.

She said determination has enabled the company to reach greater heights.

“We believe the desire, dedication and capacity to visualise ourselves can make us achieve more than we might dream possible.

“We want to be Zimbabwe’s radar and ambassador to the outside world by according the end user a facility and privilege in safety equipment at an unprecedented tempo.”
