Trumus’ resilience pays dividends

TRUMUS Warriors’ resilience in the Matabeleland North Division Two Soccer League race seems to be paying off after the Victoria Falls outfit chalked up a remarkable 2-1 win away at Dete-based Hotspurs Leopards on Saturday to go level on points with log leaders Ingagula. From the season’s onset, teams that have travelled to Dete left empty-handed, but Trumus changed all that, with goals from Oscar Mbondo and Wesley Dube. Leopards got their goal from Tolbert Ndlovu.
Ingagula stumbled to a goalless draw against prison warders Tenax on the same day to throw the race wide open. Third placed Boabab Rovers stayed close with a 2-0 win over Amagagasi Under-19 on Sunday, thanks to a Governor Sikapila brace.
Army side Moto Moto also remained within range of the pace setters with a 1-0 win over Mosi Rovers. Willard Bembenene grabbed the game’s solitary goal.
Hwange Under-17 added more salt to the wounds of bottom side Iwisa with an emphatic 6-1 thumping at the Colliery Stadium. Charlton Nyathi scored a hat trick, Kudzai Matanda a brace, while Keith Chuma was also on target. Wisdom Ncube got Iwisa’s consolation.
There was also no joy for troubled Blackrock, who were clobbered 0-4 by Classic Luyando at Chinotimba, with goals coming from Naboth Sibanda (brace), Godknows Gudyanga and Ashill Maphosa.
Lukhosi Pirates continued with their impressive home run with a 2-0 win over visiting Corinthians. Devine Mathe and Edmore Mpande were the scorers.
