HIGHLANDERS Football Club technical advisor Cosmos “Tsano” Zulu on Friday night put aside his book of football tactics and took up the mic and stole the show at the Umahlekisa third anniversary. The show was held at Rainbow Hotel in Bulawayo and was watched by over 100 people in the President’s room.Tsano, as Zulu is affectionately known by Bosso supporters, showed some of the comics on the night how to do stand up comedy as he kept the crowd in stitches with his jokes.

In case Tsano loses his job at the Bulawayo giants where he is reportedly having drifts with assistant coach Amini Soma-Phiri, Zulu, can easily find a new job as a comedian.

Sharing the stage with Clive Chigubhu, Ntando Van Moyo, H.O, and Mandla Simbarashe, Tsano’s jokes were mature with little or no crude language. Because of Tsano’s exuberant and jovial character, he had the crowd eating out of his hand as he took a dig at Dynamos Football Club.

A rapturous applause accompanied Tsano as he left the stage with the crowd all smiles. After his 10 minutes on the stage Tsano said being a comedian was part of his character.

“Being a comedian is in me. I’m like that when I’m in camp and the boys like it, because it’s a morale booster,” said Tsano.

“I approached the organisers of Umahlekisa after reading about the anniversary in the Chronicle. They agreed and there I was on stage.”

Thereafter Tsano rushed to Highlanders Football Club offices for a meeting with new Bosso gaffer Erol Akbay.

After Tsano’s show stopping performance, the comedians took over and set the ball rolling in celebrating the comedy club’s third anniversary.

The catch phrase on the night was Stop it! which was famously coined by the first lady Grace Mugabe during her whirlwind tours last year.

Award winning comic Clive Chigubhu was the toast of the comics. his on stage theatrics were the clear crowd favourite, judging from the response he got from the crowd as he moved from one joke to the next. Those who heckled him in the crowd were told to ‘stop it’ first before getting berated by the comics with scathing jokes about their intellect and demeanour.

Ntando Van Moyo the brains behind Umahlekisa was also a crowd favourite as his jokes were mostly about current affairs stories that made headlines such as isitshwala/sadza causing low pass rates.

Up and coming comedian Marcus was a revelation as when he was on the stage for 10 minutes he took the opportunity with both hands and had people laughing at his quips.

However it was not a great night for his counterpart Owen who was literally booed after only two minutes on stage as his jokes were not tickling people’s funny bones.
