Tsholotsho, Hwange FC clash Nation Dube

FORMER Premiership outfit Tsholotsho seek to maintain pressure on Southern Region Division One League leaders Hwange after reducing the gap to three points with seven games remaining.

Tsholotsho beat Indlovu Iyanyathela 3-0 on Thursday to take their points’ tally to 50 from 23 games. Goals by Michael Bhebhe, Mcebisi Moyo and Joshua Wilson powered Tsholotsho to victory.

This afternoon Hwange have what looks like an easy fixture against table anchors NRZ Leopards, while Tsholotsho face CIWU in a local derby.

Tsholotsho coach Joseph Sibindi is wary of CIWU.

“Local derbies are tricky and we face an organised CIWU side that has been playing well. However, we’re ready for the challenge. Our aim is to effectively compete and we are not thinking about the championship. What is important is to win our games and see where we will be at the end of the season,” said Sibindi.

His Hwange counterpart Nation Dube is also hopeful of collecting maximum points at home following last weekend’s 0-0 draw away to Talen Vision.

“These days there are no small teams. The bottom sides tend to raise their games when playing us and this requires us to be careful in our approach as well as being clinical. Last weekend we created chances, but failed to convert. At this stage of the season we have to try and avoid dropping points,” Dube said.

With focus on the championship battle between Hwange and Tsholotsho, competition for a top-four finish is also heating up, with third-placed ZPC Hwange taking on Casmyn in Turk Mine.

ZPC Hwange are on 48 points, four ahead of fourth-placed Makomo, who are at home to relegation threatened ZRP Bulawayo.

Indlovu Iyanyathela sit on 37 points and welcome Victoria Falls-based Mosi Rovers, while Talen Vision take on Toronto.
