THE UNISOCIAL relief campaign under the Universal Church of the Kingdom of God (UCKG) has donated grocery hampers to veterans of the liberation struggle.

The donation of 40 grocery hampers was presented to the Bulawayo Provincial Affairs and Devolution Minister Judith Ncube at her offices by UNISOCIAL Co-ordinator Mrs Unami Mpofu.

Minister Ncube said the church members were delivering on their promises they made when they met her.

“When we talked about what the church intended to do in Bulawayo I thought it was all talk but today you proved me wrong by delivering on your promises,” said Minister Ncube.

She said Government appreciated the works that churches were doing to complement its efforts to improve the livelihoods of the needy.

Minister Ncube said veterans of the liberation struggle sacrificed a lot to bring about the freedom citizens were enjoying hence they need everybody’s support.

“We appreciate this gesture by the church to donate to our pioneers of the struggle. Many of them are now elderly people who need to be supported as they cannot work for themselves,” she said.

Minister Ncube commended the UCKG for supporting a number of projects benefiting vulnerable groups in Bulawayo.
