Understanding Emotions Bible

Argumentative people: As a man of God is preaching, they will be arguing in their hearts. Pastors need to understand that such people don’t just accept something without arguing about it or over-analysing it.

They fight everything said from the pulpit and some even approach other people after a service just to discourage them from listening to the pastor.

People that question the dos and the don’ts: Whatever a person with emotional problems is told not to do, they will do. They like to question the dos and don’ts. This is the legalistic practice of emotions. They don’t have the law of emotional stability.

Notice, there is a law that works against law; the law of emotional instability. Unbridled passion and desire is a serious problem affecting many people, some for generations. When a man of God says do not commit adultery, then do not sleep around.

Do not spend too much time with worldly friends. If you feel a desire to do these things it is a sign that you need emotional healing. In Romans 7:7 Paul is saying I will not have known murder if there was no law, so human beings who have emotional problems are likened to the person described in verse 8.

Romans 7:7-8
What shall we say then? Is the law sin? Certainly not! On the contrary, I would not have known sin except through the law. For I would not have known covetousness unless the law had said, “You shall not covet.” But sin, taking opportunity by the commandment, produced in me all manner of evil desire. For apart from the law sin was dead. (NKJV)

The law of emotional instability kicks in once given a commandment. It takes opportunity of that commandment and produces all manner of evil desire. There was a time when someone asked me why I have not preached about holiness or sexual sins for a while.

I told them that I discovered that once you preach and say don’t commit adultery or fornicate, you see many people will begin to do just that. That group is an emotionally disturbed group.

There is an evil desire that rises from them. If I had kept quiet the law of sin will be dead, but once you speak about it, it triggers uncontrolled passions and evil desires.
