THE new management at Jabula Inn in Esigodini say they want to make the joint a one stop family and business spot that can host international conferences and weddings to bring life and business to the area.

Taking over from Joram Moyo, South Africa-based Zimbabwean business couple Lingani and Sikholiwe Dlodlo want to revitalise the once popular entertainment outlet.

The spot used to be a hive of activity with artistes such as Oliver Mtukudzi, Macheso, Motswana artiste Slizer, Nicholas Zakaria, the late Tongai “Dhewa” Moyo and his son Peter Young Igwe, Bev and the Sexy Angels, and Zoey and the Red Angels holding regular shows there. However, in recent months activity slowed down significantly.

The entertainment manager Nkosilathi Ndlovu shared the vision of the new proprietors saying they wanted the joint to be a home away from home for all patrons.

“Our vision for Jabula Inn is to make it into a prime spot of entertainment this side of the country. People from Bulawayo, Gwanda and other parts of the country should find a home away from home when they come here,” said Ndlovu.

He said other than being known for high-profile musical shows it will continue to stage, Jabula Inn would also be known for hosting other events such as weddings and business conferences.

“In making this place a prime entertainment spot, we shall not only focus on shows but also making it a venue for weddings and corporate events. We want people to know Jabula Inn for other things and even the corporates can come and do their events here,” said Ndlovu.

He said the vision would take a long time to be fulfilled and they have the resources and knowhow to make it successful.

“This is not an overnight vision as it’ll take time for it to be fulfilled, but we shall make it come to fruition. People passing by the place should be attracted by the way the place looks and the way other people speak about the place,” said Ndlovu.

He said Macheso’s show was just the beginning of bigger and better things lined up by the management.

“Macheso’s show was just testing waters of how business is and we’re pleased with the turnout and how business went. We realised we need to improve on our lighting among other things. Looking to summer, the place will be busy,” said Ndlovu.
