HIGHLANDERS assistant coach Try Ncube believes his team is ready for the start of the 2024 Castle Lager Premier Soccer League season.

Bosso open their campaign with a clash against Dynamos at Barbourfields Stadium on Sunday.

Duels between the two have previously been marred by controversies and violence due to tensions driven by the teams’ positions on the log, but this one being the season opener could deliver some good spectacle on and off the field of play. Bosso played their last preparatory game last Saturday and were held to a goalless draw by MWORS who play in the Northern Region Division One league at Ngoni Stadium in Norton.

Coming from their pre-season workouts Ncube is confident they are ready for the new season. 

“We are trying to shape up and trying to improve. I think we are improving. We are trying new things, which are combinations different from last time. 

“We wanted all our players to get game time. We are just disappointed that we could not create much and score but we have to accept the result. It was a fair match. 

“We were trying some combinations here and there but it was a balanced game,” said Ncube.

He added: “We are ready to play. We expect better performances from the team. A league is a marathon and we are in the right direction.”

Bosso have somewhat been conservative in the transfer market as they opted to promote players from their developmental side Bosso 90 and also bringing in midfielder Marvin Sibanda, striker Reason Sibanda, midfielder Brian Ndlovu, defender Brian Mlotshwa and striker Brighton Ncube who was deemed surplus to requirements at Chicken Inn.

From their developmental side, Bosso elevated Mvelo Khoza and Akim Nkomo. The club has also extended contracts of Darlington Mukuli, Gillian Nyathi, Talent Dube, Prince Ndlovu and the Mushore brothers, McKinnonand Mason.

Highlanders has also appointed a new technical team to be led by Kelvin Kaindu with Ncube and Agent Sawu coming in as his assistants. – @innocent kurira.
