THE Zifa Matabeleland North league received a shot in the arm after a local company came up with a sponsorship package which will go a long way in boosting the levels of competition.
Premier Motor Spares from Victoria Falls has announced that it is partnering the league at a time lower division leagues are crying out for financial support.
The resort town company, owned by Kenny Sambo will, starting end of this month, sponsor the Player of the Month.

“Yes, I can confirm that Premier Motor Spares will be sponsoring the Mat North league. We are bankrolling the Player of the Month award whereby the most outstanding player will get $100.

At the end of the season, the most outstanding player will walk away with $200 while the top goal scorer for the season will get $150,” said Sambo.
The  company which is one of the leading suppliers of motor spares and accessories in Victoria Falls, entered into a five-year deal with the league.

The provincial chairperson Dennis Tshuma thanked the company for their financial support which he said will go a long way in motivating the young players.
“On behalf of the league, I would like to express my sincere gratitude to Premier Motor Spares for the support despite the prevailing economic harships faced by many companies.

We hope this gesture will motivate the boys to be more competitive and make the league more exciting. I hope more companies will also chip in to ensure development of grassroots football,” said Tshuma.

He said negotiations were at an advanced stage with another Bulawayo-based company for another sponsorship package which will involve four teams.
“We have since engaged a Bulawayo company that has shown interest to sponsor a mid season cup tournament which will involve the top four teams at that stage but there are a number of logistical issues to be ironed,” he added.

The Colliery, through the Estates department has been the sole sponsor of the league.
