ZIMBABWEAN striker Butho Phiri has continued with his impressive form for  Young Africans FC, scoring his third goal of the season in the Namibia Debmarine Premiership last week.

The 24-year-old, who hails from Bulawayo, has been a revelation since joining the Namibian team in 2023.

He has quickly established himself as one’s of the team’s most dangerous attacking threats.

Phiri’s latest goal, a clinical finish from close range, helped his team to a 1-0 win over bottom-placed Life Fighters.

His two assists and three goals have given him a total of five goal contributions for the season.

This is a particularly impressive feat, as he has only been with the club for a short time.

Phiri said he was happy to score the winning goal.

“You know as a striker it is my duty to make sure that our team wins games. I feel happy and motivated to contribute more when I get a chance to play and put my team in a better position,” said the prolific striker.

Although Phiri has made a significant impact for Young Africans, opportunities for him have been somewhat limited due to the clubs’ restrictions on the number of foreigners that can play in a match.

This has forced Phiri to often come off the bench as a substitute a number of times.

Despite this, he has been able to make the most of his opportunities and show his talent and ability on the field.

Sixth-placed Young Africans will face a tough challenge in their next match against UNAM, who are eighth on the league table.

UNAM will be no pushovers, as they are a talented and experienced team.

However,  Phiri hopes to continue his good form and help his team win.

He  has set  his sights on increasing his goal tally and helping his team move up the log standings.
