Zim U19 to face Pakistan Zim under 19 cricket

PAKISTAN will square off against Zimbabwe in the 10th match of the ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup at Diego Martin Sporting Complex in Trinidad today.

The two sides are in Group C of the tournament.

This will be Pakistan’s first game of the Under-19 World Cup. They were scheduled to play two warm-up games ahead of the tournament, but the first one against Bangladesh was abandoned without a ball being bowled.

They faced Canada in their second warm-up fixture.

Pakistan are placed in Group C along with Zimbabwe, Afghanistan and Papua New Guinea. Qasim Akram has been handed the responsibility of leading Pakistan in the Under-19 World Cup. They will be eager to kick-off the competition on a winning note.

Zimbabwe faced Papua New Guinea in their opening game of the competition and defeated them comprehensively. They will be high on confidence and will look to carry forward the winning momentum.

Batting first, Zimbabwe posted a mammoth 321 on the board in Port of Spain.

After Zimbabwe won the toss and batted first, captain Emmanuel Bawa scored one of two centuries on the day, an even 100 off 95 balls to help Zimbabwe post a formidable 321-9 off their 50 overs.

Papua New Guinea were no match for the Zimbabwean bowlers and were skittled out for 93 in 35 overs.

Victor Chirwa was the pick of the Zimbabwean bowlers with 2-11 from seven overs, while Brian Bennett (2-20 from 6 overs) and Ngenyasha Zvinoera (2-25 from 6 overs) also had good spells, as Zimbabwe won by a massive 228 runs.

While Pakistan will be playing their first game of the competition, Zimbabwe will be looking to carry forward their winning momentum.
