WOES continue to mount for Southern Region Division One League anchors ZRP Bulawayo after they were slapped with a $500 fine and docked three points for arriving late for their Week 10 match against ZPC Hwange.

The police side was walked over by the power generators on June 9 after arriving at the match venue two and a half hours after the scheduled kick-off.

This was the second time ZRP Bulawayo had been walked over, having first donated points to visiting Victoria Falls side Mosi Rovers on June 3 when they failed to pay for the match venue.

ZPC Hwange were happy with the three points awarded to them on a 3-0 score line, with coach Njabulo Dube saying they have been given a lifeline in the championship race.

ZPC Hwange are now third with 21 points from 11 games and trail leaders Hwange by four points.

“The good thing is that we are within touching distance of leading teams and we have to keep on working hard, take every game as it comes and see where we are at the end of the season”

“The race is still open and being the first round, things might change for the better after mid-season. What we have to do is get as many points as possible from our coming games,” said Dube.

ZPC Hwange have a tricky home game against Mosi Rovers on Saturday.

Mosi Rovers lost their last two games, first falling 1-2 to NRZ Leopards and 0-1 to Moto Moto.

Meanwhile, Zifa Southern Region administrator Augustine Ndlovu said a hearing for the abandoned ZRP Bulawayo and Talen Vision game had been postponed from tomorrow to Wednesday next week.

The Week 11 encounter involving the police side and Talen Vision was abandoned in the 90th minute when ZRP Bulawayo goalkeeper Nkosilathi Mlalazi assaulted referee Saidi Phiri after Talen Vision had taken a late lead through Dingani Maphosa.

“The disciplinary committee will hear the ZRP Bulawayo and Talen Vision matter next week on Wednesday.  It was supposed to be heard on Friday (tomorrow), but one of the members of the disciplinary committee is held up,” said Ndlovu.
