MORE than 150,000 congregants from the Zion Christian Church (ZCC) from all over the world are expected to converge near Masvingo for the church’s 103rd Easter conference.

The conference, which runs from today to Monday next week, will be held at the ZCC headquarters at Mbungo, about 45 km along the Masvingo-Mutare road.

ZCC spokesperson Raymond Muringani said preparations for the annual pilgrimage were at an advanced and the church’s women, youth and men’s wings had started praying for the Easter conference.

He said today has been set aside for the “mountains” where members will spend the night praying for the biggest event on the church calendar.

Muringani said this year’s event will be bigger and better considering that the church has opened new branches outside the country, including the United Kingdom.

“The Lord has continued to lead the Bishop Dr Nehemiah Mutendi’s church as seen by a number of projects and deliverance of followers. I invite people from all over the country and beyond to come and witness the work of the Lord.

“We expect fireworks as the man of God, Bishop Mutendi is expected to deliver a powerful sermon as usual,” said Muringani.

He said on Sunday Bishop Mutendi will give the closing sermon.

“A procession on Sunday morning will add colour to the event where hordes of followers will march to the church while the Bishop inspects the procession in a helicopter.

“As usual, there is going to be a procession on Sunday morning marking the resurrection of Jesus Christ. This is the same day we are expecting a senior government official, yet to be advised, to grace the occasion,” said Muringani.

More than 100,000 congregates thronged the magnificent church venue last year.

Vice President Emmerson Mnangagwa attended the event.
