Local rappers to work with UK-based artiste

Rhyme Assassin who relocated to the UK in 2002, is set to do a track with POY while also collaborating on a song and video with Kasi Lunatics. The collaboration will come on the eve of the release of his double album in April, which he is also set to release in Zimbabwe

Rhyme Assassin pipped top acts like Decibel and BK to the Zimma Male artiste of the year award in 2012.

The album, titled the Grand Synopsis, will feature collaborations with AGR, a member of Harlem 6, a group affiliated with legendary US rap crew, the Wu-tang Clan.

Also featured on the album will be rapper P Dub of the German branch of the Snoop Dogg-lacked record stable, DPG.

In an interview, Rhyme Assassin said he was inspired to work with the Bulawayo artistes because of the growth of the city’s hip hop scene witnessed over the past decade.

“I really feel that Bulawayo and Zimbabwean hip hop as a whole is growing, with a lot of artistes coming up with fresh concepts. The music is getting mature by the year,” he said.

Rhyme Assassin said he shared a common vision with both POY and Kasi Lunatics, hence he was working with them.

“The video for Mabomba influenced my decision because it is very good,” he said

Rhyme Assassin said he collaborated with Trevor Dongo on the song, Amai.
