ALPHA OMEGA dairy is seeking an International Organisation for Standardisation (ISO) certification for its farm, a first in the country, its general manager, Stanley Nhari, said yesterday. In an interview at the Zimbabwe International Trade Fair (ZITF), Nhari said having an ISO certified farm would guarantee consumers healthy and quality dairy products.

“I am excited to note that we are applying for ISO certification of our farm.  That will be the first of its kind in the country. This is all to assure our customers that our products are produced under hygienic conditions and once they try them, they will never think of other products,” he said.

Nhari said Alpha Omega dairy — a wholly Zimbabwean owned company — was producing about 20,000 litres of milk a day from about 1,000 cattle.

He said very soon, they were going to introduce to the market a new product in the form of milk which has a shelf life of up to three months without refrigeration.

“With this load shedding problem that is affecting the country, we are introducing new milk that does not require refrigeration for up to three months. That’s just one of the products we are launching soon,” said Nhari. “We were the first company to produce the first Mango yoghurt. We are also on the verge of introducing drinking yoghurt and drinking chocolate. So exciting times are coming ahead for our old and new customers”.

He said Alpha Omega’s prices were competitive after the company installed state-of-the-art equipment which he said had the effect of reducing the cost of production while keeping the price viable.-“We have invested in state-of-the-art equipment which has an effect of reducing the cost of production.

We also maintain production under hygienic conditions. We have challenged members of the public to visit our factory and see how the products are produced. All our products are certified by the Standards Association of Zimbabwe,” said Nhari.
