THE cheapest ticket for the Bob91 Super Cup elimination match between Highlanders FC and Caps United set for Barbourfields Stadium on Sunday has been pegged at $2.

Charles Mabika, spokesman for the organisers, said they decided to make the match affordable to all football lovers, with those who want to watch from the northern stands popularly referred to as the wings forking out $5 while the VIP tribune is pegged at $10.

The winner between Highlanders and Caps United will proceed to the final where they will meet defending champions Dynamos on March 8.

Organisers say they are working round the clock to finalise on the prizemoney but they have already sent clubs rules of the tournament.

“Remember the essence of this competition is to celebrate President Mugabe’s birthday and as such, the charges should be affordable to all Zimbabweans. We are tying up loose ends and we are happy to announce that the clubs are already in possession of the rules of the tournament. As for the prizemoney, we haven’t finalised with the partners that have joined us but once we do we will make it public,” said Mabika.

According to the rules of the tournament that Highlanders confirmed to be in receipt of, should the game end in a stalemate, the match will be decided through a penalty shoot out.

Even though the teams are using the tournament as part of their final pre-season preparations, clubs will not be allowed to use more than three substitutes.

Highlanders’ chief executive officer Ndumiso Gumede, whose side will parade their 2015 squad to their supporters at the clubhouse tomorrow, said they are happy with the communication that they have received from the Bob91 Super Cup organisers.

“We were not avoiding participating in the tournament but what we were asking for were the rules which we’ve since received and are reasonably happy with. The other thing that we’re happy with is the commitment that the organisers made with regards to our camping costs. As of now we would like to believe that since they know that we have contracted players they (organisers) are frantically working on securing either appearance fees or allowances related to competing in this competition — that is prizemoney,” said Gumede.

Sunday’s match promises to be an explosive one as Caps United are coming from a morale boosting victory against their Harare nemesis Dynamos who they beat 6-5 after penalties in a challenge match.

Their coach Mark Harrison will want to continue on a winning streak and beating the Bulawayo giants will further boost their confidence.

Caps United might also unleash ex-Bosso midfielder Joel Ngodzo, with former Highlanders stand-in coach Mark Mathe also expected to be in the Green Machine dugout at Barbourfields Stadium on Sunday.

Another player that Caps United fans as well as Bulawayo-based Dynamos fans will be looking forward to watching after crossing the great divide from DeMbare to Makepekepe is striker Roderick Mutuma.

For Highlanders, they will be seeking their first pre-season victory at Barbourfields Stadium and faced with an opponent like Caps United, their players are expected to rise to the occasion.

Players to watch out for in Bosso colours include veteran forward Obadiah Tarumbwa, Nqobizitha Masuku and Teenage Hadebe who are on loan from Bantu Rovers, Douglas Sibanda, Julius Daudi, Bruce Kangwa, Tendai Ngulube and skipper Ariel Sibanda.

Meanwhile, Gumede said they have lined up exciting activities at the Highlanders fun day set for tomorrow at the clubhouse.

“Highlanders FC are known to be trendsetters and as such we have decided to have a fun day for our members at the clubhouse on Saturday. Remember there is a big game on Sunday and we need our supporters, members and sympathisers to motivate the boys before that match so this activity will be a good opportunity to do so.”

Some of the fun activities lined up include a tug-of-war against the players, penalty shoot out against the club’s goalkeepers Ariel Sibanda and Njabulo Nyoni as well as jumping castles for children.
