BOTSWANA drivers are set to invade the Bulawayo Motoring Club (BMC) Sound Off and Car Show to be held at the Victoria Falls Road Circuit on Saturday.BMC’s Zane Shah confirmed that Botswana drivers had inquired and promised to make some noise at the event.

“We expect some drivers from Botswana for Sound Off, they have been  inquiring about the event for some time now but mostly we expect local guys,” he said.

Shah said the event was open to anyone and encouraged motorists and bikers to come in numbers.

“I encourage those who have their cars who want to show off with their subwoofers to come and do it at the race course not to make noise on the streets.

“It’s open to everyone. There are no restrictions, it will be just a family fun day,” said Shah.

In the competition, a sound pressure level meter is used to determine the reading of the car. The meter is placed on the window shield with windows closed and when it starts you crank the volume to maximum.

Shah said there would be different ranges of classes from 8” inch, 10”, 12” A inch, 12 B”, 13” and Open class depending on the size of subwoofers which will be ranging from 800-12,000 watts .

Also on the day there will be a car show where drivers will get a chance to display their cars in five categories — classic and vintage, sports and saloon, customised, bucks class as well as bikes.

Shah said the Bulawayo Vintage Club had promised to grace the occasion where they will be showcasing old class cars such as 1930s models.

“The vintage car club will bring their cars for the showcase, so it will be a good event,” he said.

The public will get to vote for the winner in each category and the gate charges are pegged at $5.
