Most Bulawayo artistes have been left in the cold during the Zimbabwe International Trade Fair period as they are not included in the entertainment programmes. They will have to watch some of Harare and Durban’s finest including L’vovo Derango, Winky D, Killer T and Shinsoman who have gigs lined up this week cashing in on the fair.

What must be disheartening for Bulawayo artistes is that the Trade Fair week is the biggest event in the city where one would expect them to benefit from by entertaining visitors.  But the artistes have failed to utilise the Trade Fair week to showcase their musical expertise as local promoters favoured Harare artistes at their expense.

Chronicle Entertainment spoke to some of the artistes who confirmed that they had not lined up any activities during the week.

Musician Sandra Ndebele said she had no performances lined up this week and was working on her ambassadorial duties. “It’s a dry period.  I have no commitments music wise but will be at the ZITF as the Traffic Safety Ambassador, as well as ambassador for Mpilo to spread awareness to the people on both positions,” said Ndebele.

Jazz musician Jeys Marabini said there was not much to look forward to during Trade Fair, as he has no performances over the weekend.
