FORMER Hwange defender Eric Chipeta is nursing a groin injury which he sustained last week in the MultiChoice Diski Challenge where his team Chippa United’s reserve side demolished AmaZulu reserve 4-1. The Warriors player has not tasted an Absa Premiership or a cup game this season. Chipeta said he thought the injury was not too serious but what worried him was how the leg became swollen. He will be examined by the team’s doctor this week to verify the seriousness of the injury. The Warriors defender told Chronicle Sport: “As a professional footballer one has to accept all the difficulties a player can experience whether in or outside the field. After doing well in the team’s reserve side I hoped that may be

I might be selected for the AmaZulu PSL game this past weekend but the injury robbed my chances of being selected. As soon as I recover I will definitely fight for a starting position.” Chipeta said even though his team is doing well at the moment he will force himself into the starting line up. He believes his experience in the game will be his advantage. Chipeta’s team beat AmaZulu 1-0. AmaZulu was led by Wilfred “Silver Fox” Mugeyi who is the team’s caretaker coach after the sacking of head coach Craig Rosslee last week. Mugeyi’s countryman Tapuwa Kapini and Carlington Nyadombo play for the Durban -based side.

Weekend PSL results: Swallows 2-3 Aces, AmaTuks 0-3 SuperSport, Sundowns 0-0 Wits, AmaZulu 0-1 Chippa, Maritzburg 3-1 Platinum, Pirates 1-0 Free State.
Sunday: Ajax 1-0 Chiefs, Celtic 5-1 Polokwane.
