A COUPLE yesterday reconciled at the Civil Court where they had dragged each other for dissolution of their customary marriage. A bitter confrontation over sharing of property, dissolved into a romantic scene as the couple pledged their undying love for each other and their desire to reconcile.

Khulekani Ncube of Lupane and Sithandazile Mpofu confessed their love for each other after Bulawayo magistrate Victor Mpofu asked them why they were fighting when they seemed to be in love with each other.

Ncube told the court that he still loved his wife and wanted to reconcile with her adding that he did not break up with Mpofu but that she left on her own accord and went to her rural home. He added that she did not return and he learned from the rumours that she was now employed at a shop there.

Magistrate Mpofu ordered them to go home and discuss their relationship adding that they can come back to court on December 13 if they fail to reach an agreement.

“So you people still love each other? Why then do you want us to crack our heads over your marriage when you know you still love and want to get back to each other?” asked the magistrate.

Mpofu told the court that she also loves her husband even though she found him with another woman.

“Your Worship, when I was in the rural areas I used to visit him and do all the house chores. One day I came and found him with another woman. I decided to move out because I thought he no longer loved me since he had found himself another wife,” Mpofu said.

It was all smiles as the couple left the court.
