The elections are scheduled for September 24 in Gweru.
The development comes after the country’s supreme sports body went through the constitution submitted by ZHF although it is yet to be registered.
The national federation last year held elections, which ushered in a new executive led by Amon Madzvamuse as the president.
But, the then outgoing president Agrippa Sora lodged a complaint, questioning the manner in which the elections were held.
The Sports Commission investigated the issue through their sport development department and concluded that the constitution used was not legitimate and there were no provincial structures.
They then reinstated Sora as the president and Madzvamuse was appointed chief executive and the Sports Commission directed the local handball motherbody to amend their constitution and register it with them.
Sports Commission sport development manager, Angela Nyaundi, said they have allowed the federation to conduct their elections on the set date.
“We are giving them the go-ahead to hold the elections. They can use the constitution as it is waiting to be registered. “However, we want to see everything they are going to use for the election including the ballot papers, the nominated candidates and the venue. “We have asked them to submit all these as soon as possible so that we look at it and see if there is anything amiss and help them,” said Nyaundi.
ZHF chief executive, Amon Madzvamuse, said they were going to send the nomination forms to all provinces so they can choose their nominees.
“On Monday, we are sending the nomination forms to the provinces and they should return them before September 24.
“We are appealing to all provinces to do what they are expected of so that on the day of the elections, they can fulfil their duties,” said Madzvamuse.
Madzvamuse said they have learnt a lot from the problems that have been haunting them for the past year.
“I think whoever gets into office, it won’t be by favour or rigging.
“It’s now 14 months down the line since we started talking about elections. I hope every member who gets into office will be committed and competent.
“We have learnt a lot and we have learnt the hard way . . . We hope to do our best,” said Madzvamuse.
However, it had appeared as if the beleaguered handball motherbody members were heading for another showdown after there were reports that Sora had resigned from the federation and Madzvamuse took over as the president.
But Sora denied the reports.
“I haven’t resigned, the official position comes from me. We are going for elections and then see what happens.
