FORMER Warriors’ defender Dazzy Kapenya hopes his side Casmyn become the first team to inflict defeat on Southern Region Division One League leaders Bulawayo Chiefs when they meet in Turk Mine tomorrow.

Chiefs rule the roost with a 23-match unbeaten run. They last lost a league game in the 2016 season, a 1-2 defeat to ZRP Bulawayo Province on October 2.

This season, Chiefs have won 14 games and drawn once in the 15 league matches they have played. Hwange-based coalminers Makomo denied Chiefs a 100 percent record by holding them to a goalless draw.

They top the table with 43 points, six points ahead of second-placed ZPC Hwange and two games in hand.

A visit to Casmyn will not be an easy walk in the park for Chiefs, but coach Thulani Sibanda believes their fear to lose and hard work will spur them on.

“It’s a tricky game because Casmyn always play good football at their home ground and would want to become the first team to stop us. However, I believe the fear to lose, hunger to win and step closer to the title as well as fighting for every ball can win us the game. We just have to take the match like a final and make sure we get a positive result,” said Sibanda.

Second-placed ZPC Hwange face Makomo in a local derby hoping to keep their title hopes alive.
