TWO Bulawayo police officers were yesterday dragged to court by a loan shark for failing to repay loans.
Zethi Dzambwe of Iminyela flats in Mpopoma hauled Milton Dondo of Mabuthweni Police Camp and Blessed Ncube of Western Commonage Police Station to court, alleging that they were refusing to pay back his money.

Dondo and Ncube, who appeared before magistrate Victor Mpofu separately, owe $160 and $195 respectively.

Dzambwe charged them 30 percent interest and told the court the money was overdue.

“Your Worship, I lent Dondo money last year in November because he had said he wanted to solve a problem.

“He promised to pay the money back by December 25, but he did not. He is refusing to pay me my money,” he said.

Dondo told the court he had no money to repay the loan.

Magistrate Mpofu said: “What kind of a police officer are you? You couldn’t approach a registered company to get a loan? 30 percent interest is not even legal.

“Next time go to a bank or a registered company and get a proper loan money not from these unregistered loan sharks.”

The magistrate said since Dzambwe  was not a registered money lender,  Dondo should pay him $100 by the end of April.

Ncube insisted he owed Dzambwe $195.

He said he took the money to assist his brother with a family problem.

Magistrate Mpofu ordered him to pay the $195 by the end of April this year.
