are facing armed robbery charges – has appeared in court for allegedly harbouring wanted suspects at her Chitungwiza house.
She has been asked to answer to charges of obstructing the course of justice.
Ururu-Madondo’s husband, Patrick Madondo, her bro-ther-in-law Learnmore Madondo, and brother Peter Ururu, are in remand prison on a slew of armed robbery charges.
Mr Walter Chikwanha from the Chief Magistrate’s Office in Harare remanded the magistrate out of custody on U$50 bail to March 24 this year for trial.
Ururu-Madondo is based at the Harare Magistrates’ Civil Court.
According to Prosecutor Mrs Joyce Fusire, on February 11 this year at around 3:30am, detectives from CID Marondera raided number 31015 Unit B Extension in Chitungwiza where Madondo-Ururu resides.
The detectives were looking for Peter Ururu, Denis Nya-kudya and Patrick Madondo whom they wanted in connection with an armed robbery that occurred in Macheke on February 9.
The detectives had been told by Learnmore Madondo that the suspects lived at the Unit B house.
They had arrested Learnmore Madondo at the scene of the Macheke robbery.
When they arrived at the house, they cordoned the area, knocked on the door and were welcomed by Magistrate Ururu-Madondo.
The police said they were searching for suspects whom they believed were in the house.
Ururu-Madondo is alleged to have indicated to them that the people were not in the house and she had no knowledge of their whereabouts.
It is further alleged that she said she had last seen them in December 2010.
However, the State says when the police searched the house they found Peter Ururu and arrested him.
The detectives summoned their colleagues from the dog section to assist in the search.
Sergeant Hove from the dog section asked the magistrate to bring out all the house occupants and she came out with children, the court heard.
It is alleged she said there was no one else in the house.
A police dog was let into the house and it sniffed out Dennis Nyakudya, who was hiding under a bed.
Patrick Madondo allegedly took to his heels and jumped over a security wall while the dogs chased him and was subsequently arrested, it is alleged.
