ZIFA Matabeleland North Division Two league pacesetters Makomo can start sending out invitations for a big championship winning party if their performance in their 3-0 hammering of Prison Eagles last Saturday is anything to go by.
The wardens are a compact unit and very difficult to beat especially at home but the way they were blown up by the fired up coalminers at the Prison Grounds left even the home fans and neutrals nodding in appreciation.

Goals by goalkeeper David Bizabani (penalty), Lawrence Khumbula and Shepherd Mwale locked up the prison officers.
Second placed Amagagasi are refusing to throw in the towel in the title race. They added salt to Blackrock’s injuries with a 2-0 victory at Sports Pavilion, condemning under-fire coach Tichaona Mfandaedza to a third straight defeat.

Petros Nyoni and Lungile Nyathi were on target for the resort town visitors.
Army team Moto Moto finally remembered to shoot on target when they downed Kamandama Celtics 2-0 at Madumabisa Stadium through goals by Simbarashe Gandiwa and lethal striker Nkonzani Nkomo.

The Lwendulu derby at Old Grounds turned into a nightmare for Iwisa who were clobbered 3-0 by Hwange Under-17.  Milton Ndlovu’s brace and Brandon Phiri’s effort left the vocal Iwisa faithfuls with tails between their legs.

At Chakona Stadium, Ingagula halted Classic Luyando’s fine run with a 2-1 victory courtesy of goals by regular scorers Wayne Shumba and Peter Hamisi.

Moffat Ncube’s goal could not prevent Luyando from travelling back to Victoria Falls empty handed.
On Sunday, an explosive encounter between Baobab Rovers and ZRP Hwange at Megawatt Stadium was settled by a late spectacular volley by attacking midfielder Mandlenkosi Ndlovu.

The gem of a goal, connected first time with the right boot after a marvellous Timothy Chuma flick is that special type usually seen on the big stage in world football.

Brazil lost 3-1 to Corinthians at their dreaded Makwika Stadium. Lesley Mulenga (brace) and Agreement Ncube settled matters.
The Victoria Falls derby pitting Vic Falls Tigers and Zambezi Lions failed to produce a winner or a goal.

Meanwhile, Baobab Rovers’ utility player Isaac Maphosa was voted August 2014 Player of Month.
Premier Motor Spares Hwange branch manager Trevor Sambo will hand over the $100 prize money to the player this weekend on behalf of the sponsors.

“We will reward the young man for the hard work during the past month. As a company, our roots are here in Hwange and Vic Falls hence we will always endeavour to motivate these future stars who come from the community we are operating from.” he said.
