A PLUMTREE man has been arrested for allegedly raping his 16 year old live-in girlfriend and her two friends after accusing them of prostitution.

Brighton Nzira, 23, of Mathendele area allegedly locked the three teenagers, two aged 16 and the other 17 years, in his house and forcibly had sexual intercourse with them one after the other on Monday at around 9PM.

Nzira who was allegedly drunk reportedly beat up his lover’s two friends and blamed them for misleading his girlfriend.

He allegedly went on to beat up his lover before raping the three teenagers.

His girlfriend said Nzira forced her and her friends to spend the night in his house.

“Brighton was very drunk when he arrived at home. He found me asleep with my two friends around 9PM and he woke us up.

“He started accusing my friends of leading me into prostitution and started beating them up. He also attacked me,” said the girl.

She said they screamed for help and neighbours intervened and cautioned her lover.

The teenager said after the neighbours left, Nzira locked them in his house and demanded to have sexual intercourse with them, saying it would not make a difference because they were prostitutes.

She said they refused and Nzira beat them up.

“We got scared and we gave in and I also knew that I had no other place to go as I stay with him. He raped me and my friend once and then he raped my other friend three times after accusing her of misleading me the most. He did not use any protection during the process,” said the girl.

She said upon being released on Monday morning they reported the matter to the police.

The councillor of Mathendele area, Cornelius Nyathi confirmed the incident.

He raised concern over increasing cases of immoral behaviour by teenage girls.

“There is a problem of young girls who are engaged in prostitution especially from this part of town. Most of them are in the school going age but they have dropped out of school.

“Instead they are very active in nightclubs and they get involved with elderly men,” he said.

Nyathi said Nzira who stays a few blocks from his homestead was a nuisance within the community.

He said Nzira had on several occasions assaulted residents and was a heavy drinker.

Police sources said Nzira is expected to appear in court today.
