A MAN who accused MDC Renewal Team treasurer-general Elton Mangoma of cheating with his wife was severely assaulted by thuggish youths at the party’s Harare offices yesterday.Believe Tevera, whose wife Yemurai Maravanyika was enticed by Mangoma leaving him with their year-old son, had gone to the MDC-T Renewal Team head offices in Eastlea to petition the party leadership to investigate the matter.

Tevera handed over a letter to the party’s national organising secretary Last Maengahama in Mangoma’s presence.

“I asked Mangoma why he had destroyed my marriage by taking away my wife leaving my son without a mother. He pushed me and I retaliated. He fell on some glasses and got injured,” said Tevera.

He said as he was leaving the MDC Renewal Team headquarters, youths loyal to Mangoma who were in a truck pounced on him.

They also assaulted Pride Mukono and Makomborero Haruzivishe who had accompanied Tevera to the party offices.

In his letter addressed to MDC Renewal chairman Sipepa Nkomo, Tevera wants the party to discipline Mangoma.

“I’m a duly elected member of the provincial youth executive, holding the post of secretary for education. My complaint arises from the conduct of Mangoma who between January 2015 and now has been in an affair with my wife Yemurai Maravanyika whom I’m customarily married to. The affair has resulted in my wife fleeing home and abandoning our one-year old son.”

Mangoma denies having an affair with Maravanyika.

Interestingly, Mangoma last year actively pushed for MDC-T leader Morgan Tsvangirai to step down on the grounds that his reputation was soiled by his involvement with many women.
