THE family of the late Vice-President Landa John Nkomo yesterday said it is shocked by the alleged murder of two men whose bodies were found half naked and in an advanced state of decomposition in a septic tank at their father’s farm in Insuza. The two bodies were discovered by VP Nkomo’s son Kembo (49) who was in the company of Ndabazelizwe Ncube (47) on Monday at about 3pm.

The two had visited Paddock CSC Winterblock in Insuza, which was leased to the late National Hero. A man has been arrested in connection with the alleged murder case.

In an interview yesterday, the late VP Nkomo’s son, Jabulani, said the incident has caused distress to his family.
“Yes the two bodies were discovered and the police are investigating the matter. As a family we do not have much detail about the incident but we are very concerned about what happened,” said Mr Nkomo.

“This is very disturbing really and we are curious to know what really transpired. In fact we are amazed.”
He said the family was working closely with the police to ensure the matter was thoroughly investigated.

“Yesterday, the family drove to Insuza Police Station to discuss the issue and it seems there is progress because one suspect is being interrogated.

“We are waiting to get a detailed report from the police,” said Mr Nkomo. We are very worried also because the incident has induced panic and fear among people who stay on the farm. There is a need for such people to undergo counselling to overcome the trauma.”

Mr Nkomo could not indicate when the two would be buried saying there was a need to conduct a post-mortem and inform the relatives first.

The post-mortem is being done at Mpilo Central Hospital.  According to the police report when Mr Nkomo and Mr Ncube arrived at the farm on Monday they discovered that the farm workers, Nhlanhla Moyo (23) from Nkayi, Pardon Mpofu (22) from Lupane, Trymore Sibanda (23) from Insuza and Pilot Bhebhe (28) also of the same area, were not at the farm.

The pair sensed a bad smell coming from the septic tank, which was about two metres away from the farm house and about two and a half metres deep.

They opened the septic tank and discovered two human bodies which were partially submerged in the septic tank and in an advanced state of decomposition.
