She was 72.

The presenter died on Saturday after battling liver cancer for some time and was buried at Warren Hills Cemetery in Harare yesterday.
Hundreds of mourners thronged the cemetery to bid her farewell.

Many of her colleagues in the industry described her as a “compassionate” and “humble” person with a “motherly love”. Mrs Innocentia Magonyo, who worked with the late presenter from 1983 to 2002, said the deceased loved her job and always made an effort to assist her workmates. “She was always an uplifting person who was quick to offer counselling to those who had problems,” she said. Chingono held several positions at Zimbabwe Broadcasting Holdings, including those of presenter, producer and translator.
She is survived by one child, four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
