REDCLIFF Municipality has unveiled 10,000 residential stands to beneficiaries on the housing waiting list, the mayor Councillor Fred Kapuya has said.
He said the residential stands will benefit low, medium and high income individuals. The stands are situated in three different areas, namely Renin Farm which is along the Harare-Bulawayo Highway, Rutendo suburb and Graftland.

Clr Kapuya said the stands project was aimed at increasing the local authority’s revenue base as well as ending the town’s accommodation woes.

“I can confirm that we’re in the process of unveiling residential stands with the main aim of expanding our revenue base and ending the accommodation woes in our town. The stands are open to every Zimbabwean for as long as they’re on our waiting list and have got the money to pay for them,” he said.

Clr Kapuya said of the 10,000 stands on offer, 3,000 were for medium and high income residents.

He said the targeted group will pay a deposit of $3,000 and clear the balance in instalments while they commence the construction of their houses.

“Our management initiated this plan to make sure every Redcliff resident and others beyond our town own a house. This is in line with Zim-Asset which calls for accommodation for all,” said Clr Kapuya.

He said his council hopes to have developed and distributed 20,000 residential stands by 2018.

“We urge people from all corners of the country to come and buy residential stands in Redcliff as it is one of the few towns in the country that still has land.”
