Ster-Kinekor Zimbabwe is ready to open its doors to the Bulawayo public tomorrow with less than 20 tickets left for the premiere night where a 3D action spy comedy The Kingsman: Golden Circle will be shown.

The international movie powerhouse will launch with a red carpet event at the Bulawayo Centre. With four cinemas which have a seating capacity of 376, Ster-Kinekor Bulawayo will offer movie lovers 2D movies at $5 for adults and $2.50 for children and 3D movies for adults at $6 and $3.50 for children.
Spokesperson, Maybe Simbisai said tickets for the launch were flying off the shelves.

“We’re left with less than 20 tickets and I’m sure by Thursday we’ll have a full house,” said Simbisai.

“Those who’ll miss the movie The Kingsman: The Golden Circle will have an opportunity to watch it as from September 29.”

For those who want to watch 3D movies, there’s a once off cost of $1 for the 3D glasses.

The movie which will be shown tomorrow is an action spy comedy film that stars among others Colin Firth, Julianne Moore, Taron Egerton, Mark Strong, Halle Berry, Elton John, Channing Tatum and Jeff Bridges.

Simbisai said they were anticipating the launch as a lot of people from Bulawayo had shown interest in the opening of the new movie house.

“Ever since we announced that we’re coming to Bulawayo, there’ve been a lot of inquiries from people there and it’s really encouraging for us as it shows we’re doing something right.”
The movie house will open everyday to showcase other movies including The Emoji movie for children, IT, Dark Tower, American Assassin showing at 12.30PM, 5PM and 8PM in the respective movie houses.
A competition will be run for children who will go to watch The Emoji movie.
“For the 3D animation Emoji, there’ll be a colouring competition. The one with the best colouring will stand a chance to win a tablet,” said Simbisai.
The official opening of Ster-Kinekor comes as a relief to Bulawayo cinema fanatics as The Rainbow Cinemas with cities 1, 2, 3 and 4 closed down last year amid speculation that management – City Cinemas – had failed to pay over $30 000 in rentals and other bills. The only functioning movie house in the city since then has been Elite 400 situated between 10th and 11th Avenue along Robert Mugabe Way.
