AN ecstatic former Highlanders lethal striker Zenzo Moyo says the 2-0 win by Highlanders over their old nemesis Dynamos at Rufaro Stadium on Saturday was always going to come but the manner in which it happened was just marvelous. Another Highlanders icon, celebrated juniors coach Ali Baba Dube was also impressed with the win.

“Bekuzacina ngani vele (It was always coming),” said Dube, credited with producing some of the best Highlanders players in history, among them Peter Ndlovu, Cleopas Dlodlo, Adam Ndlovu, the late Mercedes Rambo Sibanda, Willard Mashinkila Khumalo, Benjamin Nkonjera among a list of greats.

Moyo, who was part of the huge crowd that watched the match from the Highlanders clubhouse, also felt the victory was a bitter pill to swallow for Dynamos. “DeMbare were too desperate for a win but we were more eager and composed for the win and win we did. Their dominance over us just had to come to an end,” said Moyo.

The former fiery hitman watched the match alongside another football great Agent Sawu, acting Zifa Bulawayo province chairman Francis Ntuta, former Highlanders juniors’ manager Ruebern Ndebele who is now How Mine sports officer, Zifa education officer Brian Moyo, legendary juniors coach Ali Baba Dube among other distinguished sports personalities.

Amahlolanyama shot into the lead through a beautiful Prince Dube stinging volley in the 76th minute that embarrassed national team goalie Tatenda Mukuruva who was left clutching thin air.

The former Somvubu High School pupil made light work of Dynamos’ left side defence which had Ocean Mushure on holiday. Dube then turned provider, again from the same side, as Bruce Kangwa beat a clearly jittery Mukuruva. It was a goal that should have made national team coach Callisto Pasuwa think twice about his selection criteria.
