IN 2016, curator Elfas “Ice Eazy” Ncube came up with an idea to bring local creatives together through the establishment of 9ice Festival to celebrate art.

The first instalment happened in Plumtree but economic challenges halted its continuity.

After a long hiatus, the festival is back for its second edition.

It will be held on the 18th of this month at Busters Sports Club in Bulawayo.

Among those billed to perform are locals Ice Eazy, MJ Sings, Fish F Ndaramu, Qeqeshiwe, Babongile Sibanda, Pabi Cooper and a host of the finest artistes in the  precinct.

Festival public relations and project manager, Ralph Sibanda articulated his excitement at    the return of the event that almost died a stillbirth.

“It’s been a long time coming and we’re excited to host the show again after a five-year interruption due to economic challenges.

The theme of this year’s show is centred on bringing youths together in collaborations that serve to benefit all.

“Although music is going to take centre stage, the festival seeks to bring young creatives together hence the mantra ‘For the Youth by the Youth’.

“For the hosting of the event, we’ve partnered with local fashion brands and food outlets like Deja Vu Apparel, Stars 29 and AppACombo just to mention a few,” said Sibanda.

He said they are hoping to host the festival as an annual event where creatives from other countries will take part as well.
Sibanda said preparations for the event are going on well with early bird tickets already.

One of the artistes, Kinah The Music who will be performing relished the chance to showcase his talent at the show.

“I’m so excited to take to the stage with the best the industry has to offer. Festival attendees should expect a beautiful performance and to have a great time,” said Kinah The Music. — @eMKlass_49
