All is set for the seventh leg of the Presidential Youth Interface rally to be held at Chipadze Stadium in Bindura tomorrow, where Zanu-PF is expected to once again flex its mobilisation capacity following another successful outing in Midlands last week.

The local youth leadership yesterday was brimming with confidence, saying they would host a top-notch event by drawing a crowd in excess of 150 000.

When our Harare Bureau visited the event venue yesterday, it was a hive of activity, with workmen sprucing up the expanded Chipadze Stadium.

Youths were also conducting a clean-up campaign around the stadium to ensure the venue was ready to host the President.

Most roads in Bindura have been resealed ahead of the massive event and daily meetings are also being held to tie up all loose ends before the grand event.

A musical gala has been organised for those putting up in Bindura today, especially those coming from outlying areas such as Kanyemba and Mukumbura.

In an interview with  our Harare Bureau, Zanu-PF secretary for Youth Affairs Cde Kudzanai Chipanga said: “Things are going on well and in terms of human and mass mobilisation, I can say everything is now in place. At national level, we have assisted Mashonaland Central with 10 000 litres of fuel, tents and 10 000 T-shirts.

“Things are going according to our plans and youths are really excited to meet the President. We are expecting a bumper crowd like what we have witnessed in other provinces.”

Mashonaland Central provincial youth chair Cde Isaiah Mandaza said they were now ready to receive the President.

“Everything is now in place in all the eight administrative districts in Mashonaland Central,” he said. “Tomorrow (today) we will ensure that fuel reaches all centres and we have also organised a gala for people who are coming from distant areas such as Kanyemba. “They will travel tomorrow (today) and sleep over in Bindura. We have also organised food for them and I can say it’s now all systems go. We also have a train that is going to ferry people from Selby, Mazowe, Concession and Glendale. The train will also proceed to Shamva and we expect it to make at least two trips.”

Cde Mandaza said youths in Mashonaland Central felt privileged to host President Mugabe and First Lady, Dr Grace Mugabe. “The coming of the President to Mashonaland Central is a blessing to us as the youths,” he said. “We have the First Lady Dr Grace Mugabe here in Mazowe, where she is looking after orphans and employing several people.

“We are excited by the developments that she is undertaking here, including the Robert Mugabe University that is coming soon, so we know the coming of the President to this province is going to bring us new things.”
