AMAGAGASI stormed back to the top of the Zifa Matabeleland North Division Two League in style as they hammered hapless Hwange Under-17s 4-0 at the weekend.
After two weeks of a barren spell, the resort town outfit put the Never Munkuli-coached lads on the back foot with goals by Lungile Nyathi (brace), captain Blessed Bhebhe and Moffat Cheziya.

Nyathi could have grabbed more goals as he failed to score from a penalty kick.

Makomo FC’s reign at the top of the log lasted only a week as the coalminers survived by the skin of their teeth to salvage a point in a 1-1 draw with ZRP Hwange at the GVZ Stadium on Saturday.

A penalty four minutes into injury time converted by goalkeeper David Bizabani cancelled out a Phillip Tshuma goal, much to the chagrin of the policemen who felt that the match referee Mhaka Magare had awarded a soft penalty which denied them maximum points.

At Chakona Stadium, Ingagula continued with their good home record when they beat Blackrock 2-0 with two goals scored by Sydney Mudziwepasi and Wayne Shumba coming in the last eight minutes of play.

Army side Moto Moto went to the dreaded Madumabisa Stadium and came out unscathed after chalking up an impressive 3-2 away victory over Fire FC.

Nomatter Mwembe, Nkonzani Nkomo and Desire Manyanga were on target for the soldiers while a brace by Stuart Mwanza was not enough to save the home side.

Victoria Falls Tigers went on the rampage to dismantle Hwange based Kamandama Celtic 6-0 at Chinotimba Stadium.

Thabani Ndlovu scored a brace with the other goals coming from Nigel Dube, Prince Ncube, Mululeki Dube and Alberto Lunga to leave Celtic stunned.

On Sunday, Iwisa compounded Baobab Rovers’ misery with a slender 1-0 victory over the visitors at Old Stadium in Lwendulu.

Dingani Maphosa’s strike settled matters with Iwisa even having the luxury of missing a spot kick after regular goal scorer Dani “Godomski” Ngoma’s effort against the crossbar.

There was a goal feast for Classic Luyando who pumped seven goals without reply past Corinthians goal minder Prince Ndlovu in a Victoria Falls derby.

Jealous Ndlovu scored four goals while Reuben Ncube (brace) and Mordecai Moyo completed the massacre.

Zambezi Lions and Prison Eagles played out to a 3-3 draw in what should rank as the most thrilling match of the weekend.

Ishmael Munsaka (brace) and Munashe Ndlovu were on target for Lions while Greenson Mkandawire, Mbekezeli Dube and Celestine Mudimba scored for the wardens.

Meanwhile, Kamandama Celtic’s Alec Munkuli was voted Player of the Month for June, becoming the first winner of the Premier Motor Spares sponsored award.

Munkuli will be presented with his $100 prizemoney at Celtic’s next home game by Kenny Sambo – the director of the resort town based motor spares and accessories firm.

The same company will sponsor the Top Goal Scorer and Player of the Year Awards at the end of the season.
