PARENTS with children learning at Dombodema High School in Bulilima District have petitioned the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education to transfer the school’s headmaster after accusing him of poor administration.

According to the petition that was signed during a community meeting held recently, parents also demanded a forensic audit to be instituted after accusing the school headmaster, Mr Joachim Moyo, of abusing funds. They also accused him of making critical decisions without consulting parents among other accusations.

When asked to comment on the matter, Mr Moyo referred questions to the Bulilima District Schools Inspector, Mr Philime.

“I can’t comment on the matter but you can talk to the DSI. The parents can however, go ahead and take any action they deem correct as that is their constitutional right,” he said.

Comment could not be obtained from Mr Philime as his phone was unreachable.

Domdodema Ward Councillor, Mr Benjamin Nleya, said the petition was set to be delivered to the Bulilima District education office. Mr Nleya said parents had resorted to signing the petition after efforts to engage school authourities over their grievances proved fruitless.

“Parents have resorted to writing a petition because they have asked to meet with their school administration several times but without luck. In the petition parents have demanded the transfer of the school headmaster.

“The main reasons being that the school fees charges are too high and the revenue doesn’t match the level of development at the school. Children continue to pay a computer levy but some of them are not having computer lessons,” he said.
